HB: What is Liposuction?

Liposuction slims and reshapes specific targeted areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits and in improving body contours and proportion.

HB: How does the liposuction procedure work?

Liposuction is a surgical procedure performed by a Board Certified Plastic surgeon in an accredited surgery center. Initially a sterile anesthetic solution is infused to the area to reduce bleeding, trauma and discomfort. Then small inconspicuous incisions are made in the skin, and a thin hollow tube (cannula) is inserted into the incisions to loosen the excess fat. The excess targeted fat is subsequently suctioned out into a surgical vacuum.

HB: Who is the best candidate for this procedure?

The best candidate for the procedure is someone who is within a healthy weight, that has no underlying serious medical illnesses and who has undesired disproportionate contours due to localized fatty deposits despite exercise and healthy lifestyle habits.

HB: How does this treatment compare to others of the same nature?

Tumescent Liposuction is the gold standard for body contouring and removing excess fat deposits. Other procedures like Cool Sculpting, VaserShape, and non-surgical means of reducing fatty deposits help but not to the same extent as traditional tumescent liposuction can.

HB: What does recovery look like?

Recovery for liposuction is relatively simple and very straightforward. There will be a soreness to the treated areas for several days but once a patient is off pain medication they can drive and resume normal activity. A compression garment is also recommended to be worn under clothes for the first 4-6 weeks.
