The face/skin treatment you recommend for healthy, glowing summer skin:

“It is definitely possible to get that summer glow without selling your soul or skin to the UV devil. Quarterly micro-needling treatments and/or superficial chemical peels are a phenomenal way to keep your skin looking refreshed. In my office, we often suggest taking advantage of both procedures by alternating between them. If you desire a little color along with your summer glow, self-tanners are perfectly acceptable. That said, remember that even though you may look darker with yourself tanner, your skin is still as fair and susceptible to burning as it was before it was applied.” – Dr. Lesley Clark-Loeser and Dr. Marianna Blyumin, www.precisionskininstitute.com

The 3 skin care products everyone should use during the summer months:

Sunscreen: Sun protection is important year round, but especially in the summer. It’s best to wear SPF 30-50 every day to minimize sun damage and prevent early aging. Some great ones are Elta MD and SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense.

Vitamin C / Antioxidant Serum: A good vitamin C serum should protect and correct at the same time. SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic and Phloretin CF do just that. Vitamin C helps to protect the skin from pollution, free radicals and environmental damage; and it helps to correct fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

Light moisturizer: A lightweight moisturizer like Neutrogena HydroBoost or SkinCeuticals H.A. Intensifier is perfect for the summer. They help to keep skin hydrated and moisturized without making it feel heavy and clogged.” – Dr. Aanand Geria, www.geriadermatology.com

How do you recommend people to treat premature aging and decrease the risk of skin cancer during the hot summer months?

“Strict sun protection is the cardinal rule. Regular usage of physical blocker sunscreens and usage of hats and protective SPF clothing is recommended. Usage of antioxidant serums such as Skin better alto defense serum, SkinCeuticals CE ferulic, ISDIN eryfotona actinic (contains DNA respirasomes and Vitamin E to improve sun damaged and aging skin). Use of retinol and retinoic acids can still safely be used during summer months and these topicals are truly your “fountain of youth”. They cause cellular turn over to improve tone, texture fine lines and wrinkles, acne, scars, pigment, etc…” – Dr. Stacy Chimento of Diane Walder Dermatology by Riverchase, www.dianewaldermd.com

How should your skincare regime change from winter to summer?

“Try lighter moisturizers as the higher humidity in the environment this season allows a decrease in how much moisture your skin loses to it.  Think about cleansers that lather and foam more to allow for deeper cleansing. Try and increase how often you exfoliate around this season to keep the sweat and debris from clogging up pores.” Dr. Avnee Shah, www.thedermatologygroup.com/team/shah.cfm

Antioxidants: the importance of incorporating into your skincare routine in the summer and which serums do you recommend people use this season?

“Antioxidants can help prevent and treat sun damaged skin.  In addition, Vitamin C is essential for collagen biosynthesis.  I am a big fan of Amore Pacific’s YOUTH REVOLUTION Radiance Concentrator.  It contains a double antioxidant punch of a vitamin C derivative, a base serum containing green tea polysaccharide. *I have no financial or other conflicts of interest with any products or companies mentioned.” – Dr. Navin Arora, www.cosmetiquemd.com
