Feature Stories, News September 13, 2018 By Paige Herman-Axel

Blue light is getting a lot of attention these days, and too many hours of screen time are to blame. This high-energy visible (HEV) light is emitted by the sun as well, but man-made, indoor sources such as computer, phone and tablet screens are raising concern among all sorts of medical professionals because of the large amounts of time we spend with this sources in very close proximity to our eyes and faces. Hence, a slew of products designed to minimize blue light exposure—and spare our eyes, skin and sleep from the negative side effects.

Blue light glasses
Blue light has been linked to eye strain, macular degeneration and disturbed sleep rhythms, but you can protect yourself with special glasses. Available for those with 20-20 vision (and as an add-on lens coating for those who wear specific glasses), these specialized specs reduce the amount of blue light that reaches the eyes—and they can even be cute! Milly Bobby Brown and Lucy Hale have been spotted in The Book Club Eyewear, while Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez prefer to protect their peepers with Quay.
