Aesthetic specialist and nurse practitioner, Zara Harutyunyan discusses the new nonsurgical facelift. PDO thread lift is an effective and nonsurgical cosmetic treatment to lift and tighten sagging skin. This aesthetic treatment is effective without any downtime and can be done in a medical practice.
Cosmetic Rejuvenation Medical Center(CRMC) is where Zara practices her aesthetic medicine. CRMC has patients ranging in age from early 20s to late 70s. With non-invasive treatments becoming more effective and advanced, more patients are using injectables, lasers and now threads to avoid surgery. These aesthetic treatments are effective in maintaining a patient’s youthful appearance.
Why is PDO threads called a “lunch time lift” and how does it work?
PDO thread lifting is an effective, non-surgical cosmetic treatment to lift and tighten the skin. This treatment involves the plantation of thin absorbable polydioxanone threads into the subcutaneous layer of the skin using small needles. The threads will then stay implanted in the skin resulting in micro-injuries that stimulate collagen and tissue production. After 3-4 months, the threads will be absorbed into the body leaving new collagen in its place. The treatment takes 45-60 minutes, therefore the “lunch time” facelift reputation.
Where can these threads lift?
PDO therapy can be used effectively in the cheek/mid-face area, brows, neck, jawline, décolletage, and the abdomen.
Does the treatment hurt and is their downtime?
We first numb the patient with local anesthesia so the treatment is comfortable. Pain is subjective, so if needed we have other options to make the treatment comfortable. You may have some puffiness and bruising post treatment, which may last up to 3 days. Most patients resume normal activity right away.
How long does the lift last?
Upon injection, you will see an immediate lift to the area, but the peek is usually around 3 months when the collagen has formed. Most patients see results lasting between 12- 15 months.
Am I a candidate?
Best candidates are between 30-60 and have relatively good skin. This treatment is best done when patients are beginning to see sagging and drooping of the skin.
