2015 is all but over and most of us are ready to put it behind us and hope for better things in 2016. The week between Christmas and New Year, as well as the first week of January have always worked well as transition times for us; a blank space to use for recuperating, strategizing, and amassing all of the energy we need to take on the new year. This year we think that the Westin Stonebriar Hotel and Golf Club in Frisco is the perfect spot to do just that.

Elegant “Old” Texas Ambiance

The resort is reminiscent of a Texas estate, which gives it a welcoming y’all come back ambiance. Design elements include native woods like walnut and pecan combined with stone creating an elegant, yet Texas casual, look that we love. With 301 “Texas sized” rooms there’s plenty of space to relax. The rooms have gorgeous views of the 18-hole championship golf course and the resort grounds. Between those views and the expansive fresh air balconies you’ll be able to reconnect with nature and breathe. You can even bring your dog if you like.

Of course high speed wireless Internet is included because even when you are on a soul-restoring getaway you have responsibilities.

Dining at the Westin Stonebriar

There are a variety of culinary possibilities. The Legacy Grill provides breakfast, lunch, or dinner in an upscale casual space with stunning views of the garden terrace and pool area. The burl tables are complimented by crocodile leather chairs and earth toned decor that makes the space as warm and inviting as your study. The breakfast menu includes vegan fare such as the blueberry banana smoothie made with soy milk or smoked salmon served with tofu, avocado, microgreens, and a toasted bagel. Dinner might include lobster sliders or a classic Texas steak.

Ernie’s Bar provides a relaxed, American pub-style menu that’s perfect for an apres golf gathering. Sofas around the fireplace invite guests to sink in and relax while enjoying appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, and steaks. The Aqua Bar provides a lighter, California-fresh style menu with Texas flair and includes salads like our favorite Pan Asian Chicken Salad that’s made with roasted sesame seeds, Mandarin oranges, and cilantro in a spicy sweet and sour sesame dressing.

Suites and rooms are Texas sized with expansive views of the grounds.

Indulge Yourself

In room spa treatments provide luxurious relaxation without ever leaving your room or wander over to the Face and Body Resort Spa adjacent to the resort. Here you’ll enjoy a variety of services from Swedish massage to  a Chocolate and Icing body wrap. Manicures, pedicures, facials, and waxing are all available as well.

It’s a great way to kick off the New Year.
