Instead of reaching for a cleanser or high-end cream, the bare-faced Elle Macpherson initiated her beauty routine with a swig of a gut-supporting supplement. “My beauty routine is really a wellness routine disguised as a beauty routine,” the 57-year-old Australian supermodel told Vogue. “I truly believe that when you’re well within it shows on your skin.” Touché, Elle.
In the latest segment of Vogue’s Beauty Secrets, Macpherson chatted about her guide to wellness and beauty, which she evidently approaches from the inside-out given her role as the founder of WelleCo. “When I turned 50 I started to notice so many changes in my body: I was sugar-addicted, sleep-deprived, adrenally-stressed… and it showed… [so] I changed my lifestyle.” She now regularly does lymphatic drainage massages — a practice she executes with either a body brush or body Gua Sha — and takes her ingestible complexion elixir by WelleCo, of course.

Because makeup artists would prep her face, Macpherson revealed that she didn’t follow a habitual skincare program even until the time she turned 50. She laughed off the irony before demonstrating her current skincare routine on camera, starting with sunscreen and moisturizer. Then, she jumped into makeup and turned toward a small handful of products to amplify her natural glow.
“I love seeing people’s uniqueness, that we don’t all have to look the same,” Macpherson said. “We can have makeup that highlights our beautiful qualities that we have.”
