As we engage in outdoor activities and increased sun exposure, it is important to take care of your skin to prevent sun damage, sun spots, and premature aging. Our Haute Beauty experts have shared their #1 essential summer item that helps maintain the health and vibrancy of their skin. Here's what they had to say:

My most essential summer item is a good 75 SPF spray. With the amount of sun, we Northeasterners get between golf, the pool, and the beach we can afford to make some natural vitamin D but need to thwart cancer and aging that too much sun inevitably leads to. Be careful to avoid benzene-containing sprays that themselves are cancer-causing and have been identified recently to be contained in many brands.

Since COVID, the demand for at-home treatments has greatly increased. With summer approaching and masks coming off we all want a brighter complexion. Summer causes increased oil production and congestion. My #1 essential summer item is ZO Skin Health Enzymatic Peel. This is an at-home peel applied 1-2 times per week as a treatment for 1-4 hours at a time or overnight. This results in a gentle exfoliation giving you a softer, brighter, smoother appearance.

A good sunscreen is a must and a no-brainer. My recommendation for all of my patients is to use a mineral-based sunscreen, something with zinc oxide or titanium oxide. My favorite brands are Blue Lizard or CeraVe. While sunscreen is the obvious essential summer item, the #1 item I would add to this is a good vitamin C serum. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that can help improve and reduce many signs of aging and sun damage with consistent use. For medical-grade Vitamin C serums, SkinCeuticals and Jan Marini are two brands that make fantastic products. Finally, Drunk Elephant also makes a good quality product and is becoming more popular. So, after a sunscreen-soaked day of fun in the sun, grab that vitamin C serum and let the antioxidants revitalize your skin!

My most have for the summer is sunscreen. With lots of summer outdoor activities, traveling and vacations on the beach, sunscreen is a must-have. I layer up several times during the day to keep my skin protected and glowing year-round.
