From Kylie Jenner’s growing makeup company to Gabrielle Union’s fledgling haircare line, Haute Beauty looks at the major players.
Flawless by Gabrielle Union
Less than a week ago, the star of Being Mary Jane launched her own haircare line that caters to ladies with textured hair. Union, who has turned down offers to represent a slew of beauty brands, wanted to develop her own products that are “right for me, for my family, for my friends and for every person with textured hair.” After years of, well, torturing herself with a relaxer, Union, who grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, embraced her natural hair and let it thrive. What about learning to love oneself!
The Flawless products are to debut on March 1 on the brand’s website and hit the Ultra stores by April.

Flower Beauty by Drew Barrymore
Drew Barrymore might be an A-lister but her beauty products are quite affordable, Walmart-affordable. This year, Barrymore is to expand the range of Flower Beauty, whose foundations, for instance, spanned less than 10 shades. Growing more inclusive of skin tones and textures, the label is also to e-retail from its own website and bundle its offerings into new packages. Quite some change is blossoming at Flower Beauty.

Goop by Gwyneth Paltrow
At the age of 44, Gwyneth Paltrow somehow always manages to look picture-ready – flawless skin, sparkling eyes, easy smile. The film star’s radiant complexion stems from her green philosophy, which in 2016, somewhat naturally led to Paltrow’s collaboration with California-based Juice Beauty. She became the Creative Director of the organic brand and launcher her high-performance “good” and “clean” makeup line, Goop. The actress and her team have blended such nurturing ingredients like aloe, apple, lemon, grape juice, linseed extract, vitamin C into six products – cleanser, exfoliant, face oil, moisturizer, night cream and eye cream – that nurture and repair the skin. Well, the name is deceptive!

Kylie Cosmetics
“So Glam. So Kylie” is the official slogan of the 19-year old’s makeup brand. Kylie Jenner launched her Kylie Cosmetics label in 2016, following the hype around the Kylie Lip Kit of liquid lipstick and lip liner. Billed to create the “perfect Kylie look” – think dark eyes and matte lips – Kylie Cosmetics currently offers eye shadows (Kyshadows) and matte, metal and gloss lip kits. In no time, Kylie’s makeup creations, which she tirelessly promotes on social media, turned a hit with her millions of fans, who often run new products out of stock minutes after their release. Talk about a loyal following!

The Estee Edit by Estee Lauder and Kendall Jenner
When it comes to forging a beauty empire, Kylie might be several products further than her older sister. Yet, Kendell showed her makeup knack with Estee Edit by Estee Lauder. Last year, the model and guest-editor of Estee Stories collaborated with the beauty giant to create an all-you-need, pocket palette for sexy eyes. The two rows of three duos of intense shades, each, are designed to give an irresistible smoky edge. Two light-fixing hues, the Silver and Gold Blacklight Transformers, add a finishing sparkle.
