The end of the summer calls for sunburns, wrinkles, freckles, and a whole boatload of possible skin issues that formed over the three-month sun-filled bender. So to get back to your pre-summer glow, these Haute Beauty experts share their most desired end-of-summer treatment to help regenerate your skin. Here's what they shared:

The most popular end-of-summer/before-school treatment is Hydrafacial. Patients always leave a Hydrafacial with a beautiful dewy glow. Who doesn't want to be glowing on their first day back in school? Hydrafacial is a wonderful treatment to hydrate the skin after all the swimming and sun endured over the summer.

I think the best treatment to regenerate your skin post-summer is Lumecca (IPL). With our IPL laser, we can treat vascular legions, sun, and age spots for a more luminous and even skin tone.

At the end of summer, it’s fairly common that my patients have some combination of unwanted sunspots/hyperpigmentation, redness, dull skin, and/or uneven tone and texture, making skin resurfacing the most popular treatment in my office at this time of year. Various levels of skin resurfacing can be achieved using treatments, including microdermabrasion, chemical peels, IPL, and/or laser resurfacing to rejuvenate and restore the skin. Choosing the right treatment or combination of treatments depends on several factors that I discuss with patients, including the level of sun damage as well as their desired results and healing time. By individualizing the treatment approach in this way, my patients’ skin is refreshed, restored, bright, and healthy.

There are so many options for treatment for the end of summer….yet many should be transitioned into fall and winter treatments to complete the desired benefits.

My primary concern is the never-ending trend to achieve the beautiful summer tan. Unfortunately, as we age the skin becomes a mixture of “tanned” skin with darker irregular and ugly patches of damaged skin that becomes leathery. I will never stop saying this, but prevention is the best treatment and requires a broad -spectrum physical sunscreens containing zinc and titanium. My favorite brands come from PCA, Elta MD, Alastin.

All that to say the steps I recommend are based upon age and degree of sun damage:

  1. Would be to prep the skin for the more “clinical” treatments with a facial, derma-plane+ jelly mask to initiate the exfoliation and provide a beautiful glow.
  2. I would prep the skin with either Alastin Nectar or Elta MD recovery complex products for 2-4 weeks. It is my goal to up-regulate the cells for quicker recovery and better results.
  3. I would recommend a trio of services including BBL (like the photo facial - IPL, but painless) + MOXI  (laser rejuvenation of the skin) with Hydra-facials 2 weeks after each round of BBL/MOXI to gently exfoliate the skin between sessions.

Ultimately, your skin will look amazing before all the holidays and beyond.
