Black Opal is an affordable, black-owned beauty brand created in 1994. When first launching, Black Opal found instant success with millions of women worldwide due to their state-of-the-art solutions for hyperpigmentation, oil control, and shade matching. Over the years, Black Opal has evolved to meet the beauty and skincare needs of an increasingly diverse population, with the purpose for women to celebrate and embrace their unique shades of beauty.

Before becoming a celebrity ambassador for Black Opal, Ryan Destiny had her own history using their products. Destiny revealed that she actually began using Black Opal when she was 16. They were one of the first foundations that had her shade and were also affordable. Although beauty brands now have been creating products that provide a wide range of shades, this was not always common practice. Since its creation, Black Opal has catered their products to those with deeper skin tones, which in the past, have been difficult to find.
