Permanent makeup is a technique, where my highly skilled aesthetician implant semi-permanent pigment into the dermal layer of skin as a means of resembling natural makeup for the eyebrows, eyeliner, and lip color. Depending on the location of the tattoo and the particular technique used, permanent makeup can last anywhere from 1-4 years.

HB: Is it done in a single session or multiple?

Permanent makeup requires two sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart. Some patients prefer an initial consultation to discuss different techniques utilized in the application of permanent makeup. At the initial session, permanent- makeup is applied using the most contemporary pigments and ultimately leaves with their desired look. After six weeks, a second session is required to perfect areas that might have faded.

Eyebrows have become the most requested form of permanent makeup. Natural trends that oscillate between thick and thin eyebrows have left many women with thin, sparse brows. Now that thicker more natural brows are back, women are challenged with the daily task of “filling in” their brows. This “fill” is usually gone by noon and needs to be retouched. Permanent makeup is a long-lasting option. And with newer techniques such as microblading, shading, and hairline strokes – thick brows can be naturally created with tattoos.

HB: How long does it last?

Permanent makeup can last anywhere from one to four or five years. There are variables that affect longevity such as technique, skin type, sun exposure, and maintenance. When appropriately cared for, tattoos can be long-lasting.
