Dr. Christine Bishara is the founder of From Within Medical, a medical wellness practice that places emphasis on the mind-body and gut-brain axis to prevent and manage disease. With over 20 years of clinical experience, time and time again, Dr. Bishara has discovered that the connection between these systems plays a significant role in disease prevention and management, but it has not been adequately addressed.
Haute Beauty expert Dr. Christine Bishara explains why investing in your internal health will reflect externally and help to age gracefully.

To me, aging gracefully means appreciating the wonderful things that come with age—wisdom, and appreciation for things like health and family, but it’s also investing in our own health and wellness.
HB: Can you provide some tips for aging gracefully?
I always focus on internal health first and foremost. Unfortunately, because we live in a world where we have easy access to many things, we have become a “quick fix” society.
However, in my opinion, to really age gracefully, we need to focus on investing in our health internally and allowing that to show externally. This does not preclude adding proven anti-aging measures that help with that process, but I don’t believe we can truly age gracefully by only focusing on the external.

First, focus on individual wellness, such as through gut health prioritization, identifying and resolving nutritional deficiencies, and increasing your physical activity.
Second, I like to use anti-aging and aesthetic techniques that allow our own bodies to age gracefully. This includes procedures such as the Morpheus 8 which combines a powerful microneedling technique with radiofrequency heat to initiate our own collagen and growth factor production to tighten and remodel the skin.
HB: How does aging gracefully tie together with one's self-image?
I think this is a great question and why I am passionate about prioritizing our internal health first. When we optimize our gut health, for example, we are also optimizing our gut-brain health and allowing our body to internally heal, which then leads to enhanced mood and increased energy. Feeling good on the inside always leads to looking good on the outside. This is what I love to teach my patients. Once internal health is optimized, everything else, including aesthetics, falls into place much more easily.
