The future of my field is...
The future of dermatology will be based not only on being reactive, but rather proactive in the treatment of skin disease, cancer and anti-aging. People are more aware now more than ever on taking care of their skin to keep it healthy, youthful and beautiful.
The biggest misconception about my field is...
The biggest misconception about my field is that surgical and cosmetic procedures are reserved for plastic surgeons. The truth is the dermatologists alongside plastic surgeons are responsible for the many advances in cosmetic treatments and are well trained to perform these procedures.
My most requested procedures are...
My most requested procedures are Botox, fillers, lasers and Mohs skin cancer surgery with facial plastic reconstruction that results in little to no scarring. My advanced knowledge of facial anatomy, symmetry and the need to reconstruct large defects after Mohs surgery has led to a masterful eye in helping people with their cosmetic procedures.
What surgical advancements are you most excited about?
Surgical advancements that excite me are minimizing tissue loss and damage as well as speeding up recovery time for a more seamless surgical experience.
What are you best known for?
I am best known for my bedside manner during surgical and cosmetic procedures. There is always a certain level of anxiety when visiting a doctor’s office and for me it is very important to make the patient feel comfortable and more at ease. I use different techniques to do this and patients love their experience and so do I.
What is your most memorable patient reaction?
The most memorable reactions I can recall are after performing facial fillers. Patients instantly see the dramatic, yet natural result. The smile on their face is priceless.
What sets my practice apart is...
Beyond having medical knowledge and expertise in the field as well as the technical aspects of performing procedures, I believe what sets my practice apart is that all my patients have become more like family. I really take the time to get to know my patients, connect with them, learn about their family, their jobs and lifestyles. I then tailor the treatment that works best for them. A treatment that fits who they are and what they need is so important. What works for one patient might not necessarily work for another, and taking the time to get to know them will help achieve this, while building a lifelong friendship.
What I love most about my profession is...
The skin is something everyone can see and it can be a source of insecurity for people. I love being able to help people regain their confidence with the treatments and procedures I perform.
Career defining procedure?
Mohs surgery and facial plastic reconstruction that results in an incredible cosmetic result has also given me the experience and ability to perform facial cosmetic procedures with an eye for symmetry, balance and a natural appearance that sets me apart. I can recall several procedures where I had to remove a significant portion of skin from the patient in order to remove all traces of cancer. I always look forward to their next few visits to see how beautifully it has healed and how happy they are to not only be cancer free, but without visible scarring. It truly makes me happy to be in the field that I am during those moments.
What new services are you excited to offer?
New services are always coming out in the cosmetic industry. I’m excited to offer numerous treatments including neuromodulators (Botox, Xeomin, etc.), fillers (Juvederm, Restylane etc.) lasers (IPL, resurfacing etc.) and Kybella (injections that destroy fat) in combination with an individually tailored topical regimen and supplementation. After getting to know each individual patient, I can help achieve a comprehensive skin health and beauty regimen.
