It’s not easy to launch a luxury brand where there was none before, but Rick de la Croix, Hublot Americas’ Exclusive Partner, has done just that. Two short years after the opening of the Hublot boutique in Bal Harbour, the exciting new watch brand that is taking the market by storm. It has emerged as the best-selling watch boutique in the upscale mall and become the official watch of choice for the Miami Heat with “King Power 305,” the LeBron-sized limited-edition watch sold only in Miami.

It seems so obvious, celebrating Florida cuisine in the Sunshine State itself, but Kris Wessel’s Florida Cookery is the only restaurant in town putting a gourmet spin on dishes made with indigenous ingredients. The concept is new, yet steeped in Wessel’s family history, which dates back 87 years on Miami beach. Some of the chef’s best recipes are gleened from his grandmother’s old cookbooks. Situated in The James Royal Palm, which thanks to new ownership and a major rennonvation, is simultaneously the oldest and newest hotel on Miami Beach.

Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado presented the Key to City to Portuguese collector Comendador Joe Berardo for bringing his amazing $500,000,000 collection to the city. The collection is curated by Nader himself, and for the opening night socialites and collectors showed up to drink and take in the collection full of important Miro’s, Warhols, Basquiats, Koons and Picassos. Exhibition runs through March 30st.

Luxury watch manufacture IWC Schaffhausen toasted their brand new boutique at the Bal Harbour Shops with special guest Ray Allen of the Miami Heat. The event was in support of the Ray of Hope Foundation, Allen’s charity that assists with sports related and communitybased programs.

Haute Living kicked Art Basel off right with an event Vogue called one of the most anticipated of the week. The dinner party was a celebration of Ms. Guinness’ collaboration with Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis called The Velvet Collection. Guests gathered in Villa Azure’s courtyard where a sixty-person table with violet roses that evoked the collection. Even Martha Stewart couldn’t resist snapping a few pics of the long table.

Following a very special unveiling of a Domingo Zapata installation at Hublot Boutique at Bal Harbour, Ferrari and Haute Living hosted artist Domingo Zapata’s poolside bacchanal. The blowout included a private dinner for VIPs including actor Adrian Grenier, artist Damian Hirst, Jenine and Juwan Howard and Lance Bass as well as a larger party in the garden. Zapata’s canvases set the stage for the party which continued on at SET in the wee hours.
