Carbon14 Launches $50,000 Eco-Grant

The new outdoor and active lifestyle brand, Carbon14, has just launched the first ever $50,000 Eco-Grant with singer Sheryl Crow and other celebrity judges.

The C-14’s is a unique, online, eco-grant that is open to the public and will grant $50,000 to the person most deserving of the title “ordinary people doing extraordinary things” for the environment.

Contestants are encouraged to submit their project’s details through Carbon14’s website at any time starting now until the closing date when a panel of high-profile judges (including Sheryl Crow, DJ Greg K, model and activist Rayne Oakes, scientist Felicia Keesing, and Carbon14 CEO Robert Hollander) will select the top 20 nominees. The eco-grant will end on February 28, 2010, the closing night of the Vancouver Winter Olympics, in honor of the company’s first brand ambassador, Bahamian snowboarder Korath Wright.

The winner (or most “ordinary person doing extraordinary things” for the environment) will be chosen by the general public through online voting available on the brand’s website, and the results will be announced on April 22, 2010 as part of Carbon14’s Earth Day celebrations in Los Angeles, California.

Carbon14’s concept is to develop a new, sporty and innovative outdoor brand which has an eco-friendly consciousness and positioning in the world. The brand is strongly associated with environmentally friendly participation, contribution, and communication and takes a firm stand in advocating a healthy environment to improve outdoor activities and lifestyles which ultimately are essential to a well-rounded and vigorous life.
