Haute Accessory: Patek Philippe Caliber 89 Pocket Watch

Swiss watchmaker Patek Philippe’s Caliber 89 pocket watch continues to hold the coveted spot as the world’s most complex timepiece.

Made in 1989, the beautiful two and a half pound timepiece has an impressive 33 complication with both sides of the dial filled with hands and subdials. The casing of the pocket watch is constructed from 18 karat yellow gold and it was originally crafted to honor the 150th anniversary of Patek Philippe.

Now, for auction house Antiquorum’s 35th anniversary, one of these masterpieces will be auctioned off. Despite economically difficult times, Patek Philippe watches have been able to achieve record breaking prices at auction, indicating the potential that the Caliber 89 has in the upcoming auction. The timeless timekeeper will be auctioned off in the last lot of the auction, lot 364, held on November 14 and 15.
