Ingie Chalhoub’s Latest Collection
Renowned business woman and designer, Ingie Chalhoub has been bringing high-end luxury brands to the Middle East through her company the Etoile Group since the early ’90s. These are brands such as Lacroix, Valentino, Dior, and Jean-Paul Gautier which have ultimately helped lead the way in the Middle East’s development of luxury appreciation and culture. The entrepreneur has now developed her own fashion label with the eponymous name Ingie Paris.
Having run a fashion empire for decades Ingie’s return to fashion designing is a way to get back with her creative side. She’s even enrolled in a styling course at Dubai’s Esmod, an extension of the French fashion university.
“I know it’s a reversal of sorts. Many first become a fashion designer then begin running a business empire. But for me fashion designing was a continuation of what I was doing. I started my business because of my love for fashion. But then you come to a point when you realise that designers are in their golden towers and you become just business partners to them. The result of this disconnect was INGIE Paris, which launched in November 2009 specialising in haute couture gowns,” she said in a recent interview with Gulfnews.
Expressing femininity and elegance, Ingie’s Autumn-Winter 2010 collection is dominated by pastel gowns full of sequins and florals. Many of the gowns were influenced by inspiring women from Hollywood who were not only beautiful but strong and glamorous. Her fashion creations span the depth of her career as well as her hopes to take her designing further. They’ll appeal to the Middle Eastern woman who desires beauty, refinement and lavishness.
