What Made Her Haute: Known as the Queen of Latin Pop, Rubio is one of the most prominent crossover artists to come out of Mexico. She got her first taste of fame when she was only 10 years old as a member of children’s group Timbiriche. She hit the U.S. airwaves in 2000, soaring up to No. 1 on the Billboard Latin chart and earning Latin Grammy nominations. She has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, and her songs are often No. 1 on the Latin Billboard charts. She, like many other celebrities that reside in our town, can often be found attending the city’s highest profile events alongside her good friend Loren Ridinger.
What Makes Her Haute Now: Rubio has been spotted all over the globe with her growing baby bump and was recently photographed on the waters of Miami on a boat with her husband Nicolas Colate Vallejo-Nagero. She was also in Miami during her 39th birthday and performed at the Fillmore Miami Beach alongside Luis Fonsi to benefit the Lili Claire Foundation.
The star, known as “La Chica Dorada,” hasn’t put her schedule on hold. She is in the middle of a popular tour and also performed at Mexico’s bicentennial on Sept. 15. The celebration, which celebrates Mexico’s 200 years of independence from Spain, is estimated to have 430,000 national and foreign tourist arrive in the country. Rubio, who was born in Mexico, will be performing along with Los Tigres del Norte and Ely Guerra.
