Across the Water With Tanielle Powell Is the Travel Channel Series Jersey City Has Been Waiting For
There is a version of Jersey City that most people have only heard whispers of. The private waterfront addresses of Port Liberté. The rooftops and promenades that have quietly become the most sought-after real estate in the tristate. The kitchens defining a culinary scene that has stopped apologizing for not being Manhattan. The developers, musicians, and civic figures writing the next chapter of a city that has been on the verge of its moment for long enough that the moment has now simply arrived.

Across the Water with Tanielle Powell opens the door to all of it. The cinematic lifestyle and luxury real estate series, now premiering nationally on Travel Channel with streaming distribution across major platforms, is created, hosted, and executive-produced by Tanielle Powell, a Sotheby’s International Realty-affiliated luxury broker, founder of The Powell Group, and longtime Jersey City resident whose on-the-ground perspective makes the show something more than a tour. It makes it an invitation.
Each episode of Across the Water moves through the places that define Jersey City’s identity as both a luxury real estate destination and a cultural capital in its own right. A sunset crossing aboard a foot yacht. The quiet elegance of a Montgomery rooftop at blue hour. The private waterfront addresses of Port Liberté. The conversations with the chefs, musicians, and civic figures whose work is reshaping the city’s cultural landscape.

The show is editorial television: slow, deliberate, and gorgeous. It is anchored by a host who treats every space as a story worth telling the right way, and who has the specific kind of access that only comes from years of operating at the highest level of the market she is documenting. Powell does not arrive at these addresses as a visitor. She arrives as the broker who knows what they cost, what they represent, and what it took to build them.
The result is a series that positions Jersey City not as a footnote to New York but as a destination with its own identity, its own architecture, its own culture, and its own claim on the attention of anyone who takes luxury real estate and lifestyle seriously.

Tanielle Powell is a Sotheby’s International Realty-affiliated luxury broker and the founder of The Powell Group, operating in Jersey City and the greater tristate waterfront market. Her practice focuses on the high-end residential and waterfront property market that serves as the backbone of Across the Water’s subject matter, and her position within that market gives the series the kind of access and authenticity that a production team arriving from outside the community could not replicate.
The premiere of Across the Water was celebrated at a red-carpeted watch party on the rooftop of Charles and Co in downtown Jersey City, bringing together notable guests, cultural tastemakers, community leaders, and visionaries for a first look at the series and a celebration of the city it documents.

The rooftop of Charles and Co in downtown Jersey City provided a fitting setting for the series debut: a space that is itself part of the story Across the Water is telling, overlooking the skyline that defines the view and the community that has come to define a new vision of tristate luxury living. Guests enjoyed cocktails, curated bites, and live music before gathering for the screening, making the evening as much a celebration of Jersey City’s culture and energy as it was a television premiere.

The September 30 watch party brought together 52 confirmed guests representing the full cross-section of Jersey City’s most influential community. Public officials in attendance included Jersey City Mayor James Solomon and Council Member at Large Mamta Singh. April Donelson, VP of Brand Development and Partnerships at Haute Living and Haute Media Group, represented the evening’s media partnership. Industry leaders included Darrien Pinkman, Senior Director at Tishman Speyer; Ray Mattia, Senior VP of Investments at Brookfield Asset Management; and Niti Kochhar, CEO of Workspend. The Powell Group’s full sales team attended alongside partners from Crown Home Mortgage, Bond Street Mortgage, Elite Title Group, and Build NYC Group. Jazz saxophonist and composer Louis Fouche, formerly of The Late Show, provided the evening’s live musical backdrop alongside Bryan Beninghove, founder of Riverview Jazz and the JC Jazz Festival.
The cities that earn their moment do it slowly and then all at once. Jersey City has been doing the slow part for years. The waterfront addresses, the culinary scene, the developers and tastemakers building something specific and serious on the other side of the Hudson. Across the Water with Tanielle Powell is the show that makes the case at the right moment, on the right network, through the right host. Travel Channel. Now streaming.
