Luxury on the Move: How LAS Is Making Comfort Look Luxurious
LAS Loungewear combines compression, comfort and elevated style to create versatile travel wear designed for women on the move.
Frequent travelers often face a modern travel problem: a shortage of fashionable wear that offers true functionality.
Founder Anika McKelvey launched LAS Loungewear after she encountered a persistent travel issue: garments either offered support and compression or were fashionable, but seldom both. Motivated, she began designing structured travel wear that was practical for long trips and looked good to help promote confidence.
However, McKelvey found herself facing an obstacle: She had no background in traditional fashion design. To tackle this problem, she completed industry coursework to master product development. Her prior experience in independent business management gave her the skill set she needed for operational oversight. Ultimately, the decision to build a line of stylish travel clothing stemmed from her own personal needs rather than a desire to chase any fleeting market trends.
An Origin in Real-World Utility
The idea for LAS Loungewear sprang out of McKelvey’s experiences as a mother, entrepreneur, and frequent traveler. Dealing with circulation concerns during long flights, she tried to build a travel wardrobe that offered physical support without looking overly clinical or sacrificing style. Finding few options that satisfied her personal tastes, she enrolled in a course on launching a fashion brand. But because she lacked formal fashion design experience or sewing skills, she found herself relying on her experience running two previous businesses to help her navigate the complicated world of garment manufacturing.
What began as an effort to design better travel compression wear quickly expanded as customers began adopting the pieces for everyday use. Women integrated her pieces into their work-from-home environments and used them for post-travel recovery, school drop-offs, and even medical purposes. The widespread interest in her line showed there was a growing demand for functional lifestyle wear.

Combining Fashion With Function
LAS Loungewear is built on the philosophy that everyday garments can deliver real structural utility without compromising their status as elevated essentials. Signature design details include compression elements, satin-lined hoods, two-way zippers, functional pockets, overall travel versatility, and clothing designed with breathable fabrics such as bamboo cotton. These small details tackle specific movement and comfort needs while staying fashionable during both travel and extended daily wear.
The brand achieved a milestone when its collection launched on Nordstrom.com. It created a meaningful full-circle moment for McKelvey, who had worked as a sales associate at the store during her college years. The new partnership marks her official entry into the fashion industry, where she now builds product lines around practical real-world challenges rather than simple design preferences.
Looking Ahead
Looking to the future, the company has plans to expand its presence across additional retail channels, major airport locations, travel destinations, and luxury hospitality venues. It also aims to continue challenging the idea that functional clothing should look clinical or dull. By combining physical support and modern style, LAS Loungewear’s ultimate goal is to deliver versatile designs for women on the move looking for luxury, comfort, and, perhaps most importantly in travel, support.
