Cafe Charmant Debuts in the West Village With French Riviera Inspired Dining
Cafe Charmant opens in New York’s West Village with coastal French cuisine, seafood, creative cocktails and French Riviera inspired design.
Cafe Charmant has officially opened in New York’s West Village, offering a sun kissed interpretation of the classic French brasserie where French Riviera influences meet the energy of downtown Manhattan. Located at 340 Bleecker Street, the 70 seat restaurant opened September 15, 2026, as the latest New York City concept from Catch Hospitality Group.

The restaurant follows the openings of Or’esh, The Eighty Six and The Corner Store and is backed by partners Tilman J. Fertitta, Eugene Remm and Catch Hospitality Group. For CHG Partner Eugene Remm, Cafe Charmant represents another step in the group’s evolving approach to hospitality.
“Cafe Charmant reflects the continued evolution of CHG,” says Eugene Remm, CHG Partner. “We wanted to give Chef Jake the opportunity to create something with his own point of view, a modern take on a simple, elegant European feel that is familiar yet unexpected. It’s a unique project for CHG, and we’re excited to continue creating new experiences while staying true to what we’ve always stood for: great food, great service, great vibe.”

At the center of the restaurant is Executive Chef Jake Tyler Brodsky, whose background includes Eleven Madison Park and Palm Heights in the Cayman Islands. His experience across fine dining and Caribbean hospitality has shaped a menu that combines traditional French brasserie cooking with coastal ingredients and unexpected global influences.

Classic dishes such as Steak Frites and Spicy Moules Gratin anchor the menu, while the raw and seafood selection adds a more contemporary character. Seasonal crudos, Tuna Charmant, Wild Shrimp Carpaccio and King Crab Croque are among the highlights.

Brodsky’s time in the Cayman Islands also influenced dishes including Crispy Shrimp Polynesian, Curry Duck Pastel and Razor Clam pasta, reflecting his interest in bringing different culinary cultures into a French framework.

“Cafe Charmant is our sun-kissed interpretation of the classic French brasserie,” says Jake Brodsky, Executive Chef. “My time in the Cayman Islands shifted my perspective on food and taught me to look at ingredients and different culinary cultures in new ways. At Cafe Charmant, I wanted to bring that sense of discovery to French cooking by creating dishes with unexpected bites and flavors that tell a story. The goal is a restaurant that feels effortless and transportive while still feeling right at home in downtown New York.”

The beverage program has been developed by CHG Beverage Director Lucas Robinson, who also created the programs at The Corner Store, The Eighty Six and Or’esh. Working alongside Brodsky, Robinson designed the cocktails around the restaurant’s food, using ingredients and techniques drawn from the kitchen.

The program relies entirely on in house ingredients and incorporates French culinary techniques including sous vide and fat washing. Signature cocktails include the Provençal Dirty Martini, Vanilla Garibaldi and Cucumber Sour, pairing bright and refreshing flavors with more spirit forward compositions.

Wine Director Emily Buse oversees the wine selection. Recognized by Wine Spectator as one of the top 50 sommeliers in the United States, Buse has created a program designed to complement the restaurant’s coastal French menu.
The atmosphere continues the French Riviera influence. Rockwell Group designed the interiors around a palette of navy blue and ochre, complemented by deep wood tones, leather upholstery and neutral limewash walls.
Banquette seating and free floating tables create intimate dining areas throughout the space, while the combination of maritime references and classic European details gives Cafe Charmant a polished yet relaxed character. The design ultimately aims to feel both timeless and distinctly connected to its West Village location.
With Cafe Charmant, Catch Hospitality Group continues developing restaurants that combine food, service and atmosphere with a strong sense of place. The new West Village destination gives Chef Brodsky a platform for his own interpretation of French brasserie cooking while extending CHG’s growing New York portfolio.
