This New Louis Vuitton Bracelet Takes 50 to 70 Hand-Assembled Links to Make

Louis Vuitton is expanding its Le Damier de Louis Vuitton Fine Jewelry collection with eight new creations that push the house’s iconic graphic signature into a more tactile, fluid, and distinctly unisex direction. First introduced as a fine jewelry interpretation of the Damier pattern two years ago, the collection continues to explore the relationship between geometric design, gold and diamonds while offering new possibilities for personal styling.

The Damier motif dates back to 1888 and has remained one of Louis Vuitton’s most recognizable design signatures. Reimagined through fine jewelry, its distinctive pattern takes on a more sculptural character, with the latest additions further developing the collection’s sense of movement and versatility.

Earrings take center stage in the new release, with five new designs expanding the ways the collection can be worn. Three new large hoops are available in yellow, white and rose gold, while two new ear cuffs introduce single and double versions for a more contemporary approach to styling.

The large hoops build on the collection’s existing selection of smaller earrings. Each new hoop is set with 96 diamonds totaling 1.34 carats, combining the design’s bold scale with the precision of the Damier motif. Three gold options further reinforce the collection’s unisex character and let the pieces move easily between everyday and more expressive looks.

The new ear cuffs add another layer of versatility. Designed around the collection’s graphic and modern aesthetic, the single and double versions can be worn individually or combined with other pieces, allowing the wearer to create different compositions.

A fully adjustable sliding pendant necklace introduces a softer interpretation of the Le Damier signature. Crafted on a supple gold chain, the necklace features the collection’s distinctive two row jewel and can be adjusted to different lengths. Its flexible construction allows it to be worn elegantly along the neckline or styled as a contemporary bolo tie.

The collection’s fluid approach continues with a new delicate yellow gold chain bracelet. Echoing the jewel featured on the original pendants, the bracelet translates the Le Damier design language into a refined piece intended for everyday wear.

At the more dramatic end of the collection is a new two row cuff that places Louis Vuitton’s jewelry craftsmanship firmly in focus. Measuring 9mm wide, the statement bracelet is set with 120 diamonds totaling 2.8 carats, with each stone selected for its brilliance.

Behind the clean appearance of the pieces is a highly detailed process of hand craftsmanship. The bracelets, for example, require an average of 50 to 70 individual links to be assembled by hand, depending on their width and size. The links are designed with an almost invisible gap between them, allowing the bracelets to retain flexibility and move smoothly around the wrist.

The construction draws comparisons with the fluidity of a watch bracelet, while the clasp is integrated into the design to preserve the uninterrupted appearance of the piece. This combination of flexibility and precision allows the jewelry to feel tactile while maintaining the sharp geometry at the heart of the Le Damier aesthetic.

The signature motif itself is created through round diamonds positioned within slightly oblique squares. Each diamond is hand set using a four grain setting, gradually forming the recognisable Damier pattern in precious gold and diamonds.

A defined geometric line through the centre adds another layer of structure to the designs, giving the pieces a contemporary sharpness while maintaining the visual identity of the original motif.

The final stage of the process involves meticulous hand polishing. Achieving the desired mirror finish requires considerable precision, creating a sense of softness and volume without compromising the clean geometry of the Damier pattern. The inner contours of the pieces are also carefully shaped for comfort, while the polished central line reinforces the graphic character of the collection.

With these eight new additions, Le Damier de Louis Vuitton Fine Jewelry now includes more than 30 designs. The expanded collection offers a broader range of earrings, bracelets, necklaces and statement pieces, continuing Louis Vuitton’s exploration of a motif that has remained central to the house for more than a century.
