Louis Vuitton deepens its cultural dialogue between art, heritage, and innovation with a remarkable exhibition at Espace Louis Vuitton New York, uniting two masterpieces by Gustave Caillebotte — Young Man at His Window (1876) and Boating Party (circa 1877–1878). Presented in collaboration with the Fondation Louis Vuitton, musée d’Orsay, and the J. Paul Getty Museum, this exhibition marks a milestone in the ongoing mission of the Maison to support global artistic exchange.
Running from October 28 to November 16, 2025, the presentation explores the subtle emotional and visual connections between these two seminal works. Both paintings — one an intimate study of solitude and urban contemplation, the other a luminous depiction of leisure and freedom on the water — reveal Caillebotte’s extraordinary mastery of perspective and mood. They create an eloquent conversation about the complexity of modern life through the eyes of one of Impressionism’s most enigmatic figures.
The exhibition is accompanied by a press preview on October 27, followed by a special conversation featuring Katherine Elizabeth Fleming, President and CEO of the J. Paul Getty Trust; Paul Perrin, Chief Curator and Director of Conservation and Collections at the musée d’Orsay; and Jean-Paul Claverie, Advisor to the Chairman of Fondation Louis Vuitton. Together, they will discuss the enduring influence of Caillebotte’s work and the institutional collaboration that made this rare pairing possible.

The exhibition’s highlight, Boating Party—designated a “national treasure” of France and acquired in 2022—travels for the first time since joining the nation’s cultural patrimony. Its juxtaposition with Young Man at His Window, generously loaned from the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, forms an artistic bridge between continents. The project was made possible thanks to LVMH’s cultural patronage, underscoring the group’s ongoing dedication to preserving and sharing the world’s artistic heritage.
Presented within the luminous spaces of Espace Louis Vuitton New York, the exhibition invites audiences to reflect on movement, emotion, and modernity—values deeply aligned with the Maison’s spirit of travel and creation.
