West Palm Beach celebrated a birthday this past weekend—and it was full out Greek style madness, with a touch of English. Todd English, that is. The celebrity chef from PBS’ Food Trip with Todd English joined hundreds of festive locals and staff at Taverna Opa in West Palm Beach to celebrate the tavern’s one year anniversary.
Taverna Opa is the latest addition to the local Greek chain started approximately 10 years ago in Hollywood Beach, and over the weekend it was the place to be for any table-dancing and fire-eating needs. It is reported that more than 500 patrons joined Mr. English as the tavern managed to transform the restaurant into a belly-dancing spectacle from Friday to Sunday.
Taverna Opa’s motto of “going until the ouzo runs out” was certainly in effect this past weekend, leaving guests and Mr. English himself wondering what the second year anniversary of this jovial will bring.
