Where To Spend New Year’s Eve If You’re Avoiding The Strip

The extroverts around the world are planning extravagant soirees. Some are hosting lavish fetes in their mansions or on a yacht stationed in the waters of Mykonos or Ibiza. Others are flying into the Mojave Desert to ring in the New Year. The city of Las Vegas will be closing The Strip for locals and tourists alike to enjoy the annual “America’s Party” fireworks show. Thousands of people will be eagerly and excitedly hollering, walking the streets with drinks in hand anticipating the countdown. And while Las Vegas will clearly have an abundance of New Year’s Eve offerings for the extroverted crowd, the introverts are looking for a more regal experience. Lake Las Vegas is where you want to spend New Year’s Eve if you’re avoiding The Strip.

1. LAKE LAS VEGAS FIREWORKS SHOW

MonteLago Village at Lake Las Vegas will be offering a free fireworks show. Live music will be playing prior to the display for visitors to enjoy. The neighboring restaurants will be featuring special menus to taste on New Year’s Eve.

2. NEON ICE SKATING

The family-friendly alternative is Neon Ice which features a 3,000 sq. ft. synthetic ice rink floating on the Lake Las Vegas marina dock. You can rent skates at Lake Las Vegas Water Sports for $15 or bring your own for $10. Neon Ice will be open on New Year’s Eve from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fire pits and heat lamps will be available.
