New York Weekend Roundup: Music, Monsters, And Munchies!

Halloween is only a short week away, which means New York City is getting festive with holiday themed events sure to get every New Yorker in the fall weather spirit. The sudden burst of warm weather this past weekend made everyone cringe for the blistering heat of summer again, but offered the perfect weather to come out to events of all kinds for the Fall day. Here are some of our favorite events from over the weekend.

The NYC Cupcake Run

While it may not be as healthy as doing a 5k run normally, the Cupcake Run is a crowd favorite in New York, by stepping up the usual 5k water stops along the route with delicious cupcakes to bite into. The only downside is after doing this 5k you really need to go work out after.

The Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade

Leave it to the East Village to find the fun quirky spin on all things Halloween. This weekend the dog parade had every hound marching through the park in full costume from silly hats to full on ensembles that owners needed to help hold up while the dogs walked around. While there are hundreds of adorable images scattered across Instagram, this Ms. Piggy getup is by far our favorite.

The Walker Hotel Jazz Concerts

Greenwich Village’s Walker Hotel, located on West 13^th Street, hosted the first of its jazz concerts last Thursday. Featuring Cyrille Aimee, the concert brought in big crowds to the boutique, luxury hotel’s restaurant Society Café in partnership with nearby jazz club Smalls. If you missed this go-around, check out the next in the lineup of jazz nights on November 16^th, and December 14^th.

The Bronx Zoo Brings Back Boo In The Zoo

Weekends at the Bronx Zoo are about to get spooky with the park bringing back its yearly tradition of ghouls and ghosts on haunted hayrides and house tours. If scary things aren’t your style though, there’s plenty of room in the park that has traditional zoo fun.
