Now that the winter is fast approaching, it’s time to start thinking about toning up your pre-holiday body. To do just that, we recommend signing up for a Pilates class for a total body workout that promotes body awareness and proper posture while increasing core strength, flexibility and mobility. From the Seaport District to Back Bay, here’s a look at three of Boston’s best spots to get your Pilates fix going.

Today is finally the day we have all been waiting for when Equinox opens its doors to their fifth Massachusetts location in the Seaport District. The beautiful new Equinox Seaport offers floor-to-ceiling views of Boston Harbor. Their exclusive Pilates studio here features a suite of authentic equipment where you can sign up for a variety of classes including Pilates Fusion, a series of exercises performed on a mat to complement different elements of Pilates work focusing on core strengthening exercises and increasing flexibility. Keep an eye out also for Heated Pilates & Yoga classes, a more intense Pilates experience incorporating the classical mat series designed to promote flexibility, toning, and core strength in a heated environment.

Over in Back Bay, you can enjoy an invigorating Pilates class in a sunlit Pilates Mat and Barre room and a spacious Reformer studio overlooking Newbury Street. At Boston Body Pilates, they offer a haute way to transform your body in just 30 sessions. If you can commit to wanting a Brand New Body, they will give you a combination Pilates and Barre fitness program that will provide you with a new look in just 12 weeks, just in time for the New Year. They also offer everything from 50-minute private lessons to group sessions and even an organized luxury group Pilates retreat to the Caribbean.

For the advanced Pilates guru looking to push yourself to a new level where your body will sweat and your muscles will burn, the South End’s most mentally and physically challenging classes can be found at Endurance. Even if you are familiar with the traditional form of Pilates, they recommend a Basics class to get you started with their Endurance Method. Once you get better, you can advance to the Pilates Mat, Barre Boston, PAIN and Reformer classes, but because they are so intense, they each require permission to attend.
