Los Angeles Weekend Roundup: Gala Season Has Arrived
It’s fall which means it’s gala season in Los Angeles. Celebs came out in full force this weekend in support of a variety of causes including amfAR, the Hammer Museum, and the David Lynch Foundation.
Julia Roberts Honored At amfAR L.A. Gala

At the eighth annual amfAR Gala in Los Angeles, Tom Hanks awarded Julia Roberts with the organization’s Award of Courage in recognition of her work in the fight against AIDS. Guests, including Heidi Klum, Goldie Hawn, Kate Hudson and Sean Penn, were treated to surprise performances by Fergie and Chris Martin. The amfAR Los Angeles Gala has to date raised more than $11 million for lifesaving research programs.
Hammer Museum Gala in the Garden

The Hammer Museum’s annual Gala in the Garden took place on Saturday, honoring filmmaker Ava DuVernay and Pulitzer Prize-winning theater critic Hilton Als. All proceeds support Hammer exhibitions and public programs. Guests came out in full force, including Jessica Chastain, Diane Keaton, Evan Rachel Wood, Priyanka Chopra, Rashida Jones and Jessica Lange. The museum is currently boasting a must-see exhibit: “Radical Women: Latin American Art, 1960-1985.”
David Lynch’s Festival of Disruption

And over at the Ace Hotel, David Lynch hosted a Festival of Disruption to benefit his foundation which works to fight post-traumatic stress through Transcendental Meditation. Musical acts included Bon Iver, Moby, The Kills, TV On the Radio and Reggie Watts. And a number of guests participated in on-stage talks including Ed Ruscha, Bill Pullman, Sheryl Lee and Pete Holmes. Guests enjoyed taking their photo in the Twin Peaks’ famous Red Room Photo Booth.
