The SF social season is officially in full swing! Over the past week, the Symphony started its season, the Zoo hosted it’s annual fur ball, and Tyler Florence cooked up a sensational meal for the Marin Food Bank. Here’s what else happened.
The Gettys and the Newsoms were out in full force on Saturday night at the Art + Earth Initiative. The event, which took place at the PlumpJack Group’s Odette Estate winery in Napa, was in celebration of Gordon Getty’s 85th birthday and supported the Center for Contemporary Opera. Vanessa Getty and husband, Billy, made a rare appearance together and Peter Getty stood up and gave a talk. However, the highlight of the evening was a performance by Susan Graham and Jennifer Hudson. Notables included major players from the Opera, David Gockley, Matthew and Kate Shilvock, and Sako Fisher. Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Gavin Newsom, and his sister Hilary, were also at the party along with the politician’s dad, judge William Newsom.
UNICEF is hosting their first gala in San Francisco on Saturday, October 7. In honor of the event, Valentino hosted a private cocktail party at their store. The Italian fashion powerhouse is the main sponsor of the UNICEF gala and is donating a portion of proceeds sold from now until September 22 to the organization. It was a chic crowd—Dr. Carolyn Chang, Barbera Brown, Claudia Mata, and Anna Weinberg were some of the lovely ladies who showed up to support the cause.
The Hotel Zoe hosted an official grand opening party on Thursday evening. The Fisherman’s Wharf hotel recently completed a $16 million renovation and rebranding. It’s new look is inspired by the luxurious ports found in the Mediterranean with a light palette, nautical accents, and yacht-inspired furnishings. The hotel has a large courtyard with fire pits where guests mingled during the event and enjoyed hand-rolled cigars.
