Weekend Update: Goyard Has Opened A Luxury Travel Mecca On Rodeo Drive, And It’s Glorious
Travel aficionados rejoice: there’s a new luxury goods guru on Rodeo Drive now that Goyard has officially opened its first Maison Goyard boutique in the City of Angels.
The L.A. digs at 405 N. Rodeo Drive is the brand’s third U.S. boutique (it joins additional locations in San Francisco and New York) though, up until now, the label has been carried at Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills.

Its new location is pure luxury: two floors of more than 1,400 square feet, illuminated with skylights allowing the beautiful California sunshine to stream in. The architecture and décor are inspired by the 1940s, with old-world Hollywood glam and classic French details. The foyer produces a dramatic entrance with a two-story height and features a classical French greenhouse theme with decorative, hand-painted paneling and traditional trellis work. Custom mosaic floors add drama and fashion key Goyard elements such as the “Y” pattern of the famed Goyard motif, as well, the founder’s initials “E.G” for Edmond Goyard.

A stunning, oversized 1940s bronze and brass chandelier hangs from the skylight with matching sconces spread throughout the space, 14 in all. Color is prominent throughout – shades of bright green, yellows and turquoise balance furniture finishes of bronze, brass and handwoven mesh. Hand-painted lacquers with leather accents rhyme with Goyard’s artisanal craftsmanship. Important furniture includes three large-scale brass and glass vitrines from the Goyard archive and are housed on the ground floor. A pair of late 1940s Jansen Paris chairs in brushed steel and brass welcome clients at the cash wrap; chrome and brass gueridons also from Jansen Paris, find a home in the entry. The VIP salon on the 2nd floor was built around an important Dominque round table in blond mahogany with 6 matching chairs and their original velvet upholstery.

The stairwell was designed with old Hollywood and 1940s Paris in mind: a graceful 3 leveled stair with dramatic mirrored panels complements a carpet from the Maison Braquenié archives, customized in specific Goyard hues. Plants and flowers are incorporated throughout the space, as are many trunks, cases and significant travel pieces from the Goyard archive.

To celebrate the opening of the Goyard flagship on Rodeo Drive, a limited edition of the Monte-Carlo clutch in PM size and gold Goyardine canvas will be on offer.
No doubt, we’ll be seeing the brand’s faithful fans such Gigi Hadid, Kate Moss, Kendall Jenner, Karl Lagerfeld, Julianne Moore, Reese Witherspoon, Madonna, Rihanna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Pharrell Williams and Kanye West slipping in and out of the Maison’s doors in upcoming months.
