Toast Jay Z on National Cognac Day

Two new cocktails from Jay Z's D’USSÉ™ Cognac to help you celebrate National Cognac Day

Did you know that National Cognac Day is this Sunday, June 4?  Well, now you do! And to celebrate the occasion the folks at D’USSÉ™ Cognac have come up with two fresh cocktails to tempt you from your regular weekend libation go-tos. We bet Jay Z will be raising a glass with one of the drinks detailed below since, well, he owns the brand, which has has a large celebrity fan club that includes DJ Khaled, Rihanna, Fabolous, and Romeo Santos among other A-listers.

Originating at the Chateau de Cognac, France, D’USSÉ cognac, curated by cellar master Michel Casavecchia,  has a range that includes VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale) and XO (Extra Old).  Because of its proximity to the Charente river in southwest France , the chateau, one of France’s oldest cognac houses, is able to leverage two microclimates within its walls: a humid cellar that helps develop the cognac’s  fruity, floral notes, and a dry cellar that brings out the liquor’s woody, and spicy tones. The chateau blends the two eaux-de-vie for the finished cognac.

Cognac, of course, is produced solely in the Cognac area of France. To be considered a bona-fide Cognac, its production can only come from the white grapes grown in specific approved growing regions in the area. Cognac also needs to be aged for at least 2 years in French Oak Casks and be a minimum of 80 proof by volume.
