Need a Bright Spot? Look for the Global Rainbow During Basel
Let’s face it, the world could use a little cheering up right about now. A bright spot, so to speak. Well soon enough, starting Monday, November 28th, you’ll be able to find it over the Biscayne Bay.
This is because Lionheart Capital, developer of The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Miami Beach, has commissioned artist Yvette Mattern, to put up one of her famous Global Rainbows during Art Basel Miami Beach.
Dubbed the #RitzRainbow, Mattern’s large-scale, laser light beam installation will originate from Lionheart Capital in the heart of Miami’s Design District, casting a spectacular array of light across the city, and over Biscayne Bay from November 28th through Saturday, December 3rd.
When activated, the #RitzRainbow can be seen from a 20-mile radius – a gift to the city of Miami that spreads positivity and celebrates the beauty of light, art and the human spirit. “We are thrilled to be working with Yvette to bring light to the people of Miami,” says Ophir Sternberg, Founding Partner and CEO of Lionheart Capital. “While not everyone can attend the fair, our entire community can enjoy this beautiful work of art.”
Because light plays a principal role in the design vision that is defining the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Miami Beach, the use of Mattern’s most famous medium was a natural choice for Lionheart Capital and their architect Piero Lissoni. “If you are a traveler and you land for the first time in Miami,” says Lissoni, “The first feeling when you land is the quality of light; it is absolutely special.”
Mattern is an American artist who travels between New York and Berlin. She has put up Global Rainbow installations in a number of cities across the globe, including Berlin, Ireland, New York City, and more.
