Haute Secrets Boston: Kristin Canty of Woods Hill Table

Kristin Canty is a first-time filmmaker, small farm advocate, fresh milk drinker, mom and owner of the Boston-area restaurant Woods Hill Table. She is the director/producer of Farmageddon; The Unseen War on American Family Farms and her restaurant is dedicated to supporting small farming and celebrating the benefits of fresh local food.

She and her husband purchased an area farm to source the restaurant and Kristin, and her team work with additional local farmers and fishermen who share their understanding of the direct connection between delicious, flavorful dishes and nutrient-dense, earth-friendly farming and pasturing practices. Kristin originally became interested in local, nutrient dense food when one of her children was ridden with multiple allergies and asthma as a pre-schooler, and when medications couldn’t help him, she found that raw milk helped him recover. Since then, she has tried to buy most of her family’s food directly from local, organic farms.

We caught up recently with Canty to find out what she loves most about Boston.

How long in Boston: Pretty much all of my life

Neighborhood: Currently going back and forth between Concord, MA and Charles Street

Occupation: Restaurant and farm owner, film producer

Favorite Restaurant: Row 34. I’m a huge oyster lover and the Island Creek group has the best oysters.
