How Apple Is Helping Vertu Sell Their New $26,000 Phone
You might be wondering what the luxury smartphone brand Vertu is up to these days. Aside from selling ultra expensive phones to high-end clientele, they have finally released a new edition aimed at reaching a broader audience.
The New Signature Touch runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and features a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a 21-megapixel camera, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor, 64GB of internal storage, and 4GB of RAM with leather and titanium used to encase the electronics. In addition to these creditable specs, each New Signature Touch phone is hand-made in England by a single artisan from start to finish. Depending on the materials you choose, the phone could cost you around $11,000. On the higher end of this you can buy a gold model for about $26,000. A much more reasonable price than other Vertu editions; their Vertu Signature Diamond will run you a staggering $88,000.
Even though these prices are still not affordable to the masses, Vertu claims its smartphones are no longer a product just for the mega rich. “You do not have to be a millionaire to own a Vertu,” chief executive Max Pogliani told the Financial Times. Since Apple expanded the luxury technology market with the advent of their high-end Watch Edition, Pogliani claims Vertu sales are growing in the Middle East, Europe, and the US. The brand is now tapping into a female and younger to gain new customers.
You can pre-order the phone now exclusively at Harrods and other luxury retailers across the globe. The New Signature Touch will be officially available from October 16th.
