President Obama’s 2013 Martha Vineyard Home Hits the Market
Located on a high ridge overlooking the ocean, the Chilmark property, once rented by President Barack Obama and his family in 2013, is on the market.
The Martha’s Vineyard home is selling for a whopping $22.5 million, according to the property’s agent Tom Wallace of Wallace & Co. Sotheby’s International Realty. The home is approximately 7,000 square feet and features a number of plush amenities. The four-bedroom home includes a master suite with a fireplace, his and hers bathrooms, and a private deck. The property boasts floor-to-ceiling windows, an infinity-edge pool, a gym, a guesthouse, an outdoor kitchen and a basketball court. Also, there are five outdoor showers.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the home, which is located just seven miles off Cape Cod, is owned by David and Patricia Schulte, who primarily live in Chicago. The Schultes are Obama supporters. Mr. Schulte is the founder of merchant banking firm Chilmark Partners.
Over the weekend, the Obamas returned to the secluded town of the Chilmark to commence their 17-day Martha’s Vineyard vacation. The Obamas returned to the seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom property they rented in 2014. The 8,100-square-foot house, sits on a 10-acre lot. Mr. Schulte, who hasn’t rented the first property since the Obama’s stay in 2013, assisted the First Family in finding the seven-bedroom property.
On Saturday afternoon, President Obama played golf at Farm Neck Golf Club in Oak Bluffs. He was spotted playing golf with actor-comedian Larry David, businessman and Obama campaign fund-raiser Robert Wolf and Cyrus Walker, a cousin of top Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett.
The First Family travelled with a small group of White House aids including National Security Adviser Susan Rice, and senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, who will keep the president updated as needed.
The president is slated to return to the White House on Aug. 23.
