You’re a cool person; you don’t like overwhelming crowds or anything too trendy. If this is you, you should most likely frequent The Leadbelly. This small and cozy spot is filled with all the bar essentials you could ask for. Think crafted cocktails, small bites and good classic music. You might even catch an impromptu piano performance. It’s an intimate and easy atmosphere that lends to a great first date spot. You’ve got to try the Copper Pimm’s Cup with Pimm’s, Vodka, Kummel, Cucumber, Lemon, and Wheat Beer. Or just get romantic with some Oysters.

Clandestino is a true to itself, warm and welcoming neighborhood bar. Good music, lively conversation and dim lighting all add to the awesome ambiance found here. They have a full-bar where you can enjoy all your favorite spirits as well as wines from France, Spain and Argentina. The people who’d rather not go clubbing because they want an actual conversation go to Clandestino. It is New York’s ‘chill scene’ at it’s finest.

Copper + Oak

Copper + Oak is what a library would look like if books were liquor. It is small, narrow and the shelved walls are filled with spirits. The focus here is whiskey, but they have all your favorite liquors that they serve up in crafted cocktails. One of the many reasons we go to bars is to escape, and Copper + Oak does just that. The strong orange lighting and wood features transport you from the busy streets of the city to a new, whiskey-filled little world.

Soul, jazz and oysters all perfectly mesh in this little Lower East Side bar. The 169 bar is definitely one of the more interesting places to be found in this area. It will bring you to a Miami tropical vibe with palm trees and a leopard-print pool table. It’s inexpensive, casual and most importantly has a rotating disco ball. It has recently become a major hit and often has long lines to get inside. Head here before the heard!
