“Empire” creator Lee Daniels has tapped Venezuelan-American designer Carolina Herrera to create ultra-plush pajamas for Terrance Howard’s character Lucious Lion.

Daniels took to Instagram to share the exciting news. He posted an image of him and Herrera posing with the caption, “At lunch with my darling and BRILLIANT designer #carolinaherrera who confirmed that my favorite pj’s worn for that @nytimes article on me were in fact hers. Apparently there seemed to be a discrepancy as to weather or not she’d ever designed men’s pajamas … Well she did! …Just one, for one season 8 years ago and I snatched em! And guess what? She’s Gunna do a line of pj’s for #lucious #empireseason2 #grateful #fashion #fox @houseofherrera”

Daniels is known to be a pajama aficionado. While directing the critically acclaimed film The Butler, it was noted the jack-of-all-trades never wore anything but pajamas. Jane Fonda even wrote a blog post on Daniels.

She wrote, “A word about Lee (though he warrants a book!): We’re all unique, I know, but Lee Daniels is more unique than most! He is brilliant, flamboyant, irascible, challenging, in other words, fascinating. Never wore anything but pajamas–nice ones, pressed, tasteful, but still. He said they’re comfortable and appropriate as he’s in the process of giving birth (the film).”

Hopefully, Herrera will be inspired to create a collection available for purchase.

“Empire” has had a successful debut season. According to Variety, with estimates from Nielsen, the hour finale of “Empire” grew to 21.92 million and an 8.8 rating in 18-49. The show debuted the highest demo rating for the conclusion of a first-year scripted series in the 10 years since ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” concluded its first season in the spring of 2005.

Most recently, Herrera unveiled a new ad campaign starring Lily Aldridge. The campaign was shot in an ultra-plush town house designed with midcentury and contemporary art, by Herrera’s longtime friend and renowned photographer Mario Testino.
