Friday was Eid in Dubai, which means that Dubai came back to life after staying relatively quiet during the month of Ramadan. The celebrations throughout the city were vast, with Rabeh Sager’s appearance at the annual Layali Dubai concert being the premier event.

Layali Dubai Brings Rabeh Sager and Balqees

Sunday was the annual Layali Dubai concert at the Dubai World Trade Centre. This year superstar Rabeh Sager was joined by up-and-comer Balqees Ahmed Fathi. Sager has been a legend in the music industry for more than 25 years. The Saudi Arabic-language singer is especially famous for his song “Sahratna Al Laila.” Balqees just released her second studio album entitled Zai Ma Ana this year. Her first album, Majnoun, was released in 2013. The second Layali Dubai concert is Monday night and features Emirati singer and Arab Idol judge Ahlam and famous composer Majid Al Muhandi.

Dubai Police Show Off BMW, Porsche, Mercedes

Dubai Police always celebrate Eid in style by showing off their super-car fleet. The National got to do a ride-along with police in three of the 16 luxury vehicles which belong to the fleet. The three cars were the Mercedes G53, the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid and the BMW i8 plug-in hybrid. Dubai police use the luxury cars to patrol some of the city’s most popular tourist areas, including Jumeirah Beach Road, the Dubai Mall, Burj Al Arab, and Burj Khalifa.

Also over the weekend, you may have seen some spectacular fireworks and pyrotechnics over The Beach at Jumeirah Beach Road. Dubai Festival and Retail Establishment really outdid itself this year with their firework display, which can always be seen during the first three days of Eid.
