This evening, an intimate table of dessert lovers will reminisce about their fondest first moments–perhaps a first word, kiss, or dance–at U.P., short for “unlimited possibilities,” Dominique Ansel Kitchen’s just-launched after-hours dessert tasting table.
Guests will be seated at an exclusive eight-seat table in the middle of the second-floor pastry kitchen in the West Village bakery in New York City, where they’ll be served an eight-course dessert tasting menu by Dominique Ansel. The first menu, appropriately named “First,” celebrates some of the most memorable first moments in our lives, remembered through desserts.

“First Kiss,” a sweet dessert of vanilla ice cream, topped with raspberry and mint, is served to the men of the table in a smooth bowl as if they are kissing a woman’s smooth cheek, and is served to the women in a stubbly bowl to remind them of the man’s scruff. It’s paired with a butter popcorn-infused rum and cola drink, recalling the innocence of making out in movie theaters as teenagers.
The dessert and dink menu will change twice a year. Mixologist Don Lee, formerly of Please Don’t Tell and Momofuku, collaborated with Ansel in pairing wine and cocktails with this first menu.
Two seatings will be held per night, at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Tickets go on sale every Monday, at noon EST, for seats seven weeks out and can be purchased online at dominiqueanselkitchen.com/up.
