Have you ever needed to let out a good cry? Well, a Japanese hotel will afford you the opportunity to do so. At the Mitsui Garden Hotel Yotsuya in Shinjuku, Tokyo women are offered designated luxury “crying rooms.”

For $83 a night, guests have access to soft tissues to “gently wipe away tears,” warm eye masks, makeup remover, and a selection of emotional films. The tissues provided are said to feel like cashmere, while warm sheets are offered for additional comfort and warmth around the neck.

A few of the films stocked in the room are Forrest Gump, the South Korean film A Moment to Remember, a Japanese film A Tale of Mari and Three Puppies, much more.

Other amenities available in the crying rooms are hairbrushes, hair elastics, razors, shaving cream, shampoo, conditioner, soap, green tea, slippers and pajamas. Guest can also request gloomy manga comic books to help induce tears.

With the addition of more Japanese women succeeding in the workforce, Mitsui Garden Hotel Yotsuya hopes the crying rooms will provide women a safe haven to relax their mind, body and spirit.

In a statement made to the New York Post, Yohei Ezato, the PR representative for Mitsui Garden Hotel Yotsuya, said, “I want the women who exert themselves every day to cry, to relieve their stress in rooms as much as they like.”

There have been many studies that have discovered the health benefits of crying. According to William Frey, biochemist and author of Crying: The Mystery of Tears, crying allows people to remove, in their tears, chemicals that build up during emotional stress. In addition, studies show people feel physically and physiologically better after a good cry.

The hotel, which is just a 10-minute train ride from the Tokyo rail station, is popular among women and offers rooms exclusively for women. Room types that are offered are the Ladies Moderate Single, Ladies Comfort Single and Ladies Moderate Twin.
