Seeing your favorite LA landmarks firsthand is a pretty sweet experience, but that experience has gotten even sweeter thanks to a few local pastry chefs.
Sweet Lady Jane, Wolfgang Puck and Charm City Cakes are among the bakeries that have created edible replicas of iconic Los Angeles locales to raise money for the Mattel Children’s Hospital LA.
The cakes were on display at Neiman Marcus Beverly Hills earlier this month as part of the hospital’s “Sweet Side of LA” in conjunction with its recently past Kaleidoscope Ball.
Sweet spots you might recognize include the Beverly Hills Hotel, The La Brea Tar Pits, LACMA’s ‘Urban Light’, the Huntington Gardens in Pasadena, Capitol Records, Paramount Studios and Griffith Observatory.
Sara Heslington of Heslington Cakes is responsible for the baked representation of the Chinese garden at Huntington Botanical Gardens in Pasadena, while Duff Goldman‘s Charm City Cakes took on Capitol Records. Chris Burden’s installation “Urban Light,” installation at LACMA was tackled by A Wish & A Whisk in Costa Mesa, while the Montage Laguna Beach created Barbie’s Malibu beach house and Butter End in Santa Monica took on the La Brea Tar Pits.
