Yesterday, the largest Zeppelin in the world took a detour. The frequent San Francisco visitor, which recently wowed Bay Area tourists by completing a first-ever nighttime flight over San Fran, took a field trip gliding from Mountain View’s Moffet Federal Airfield to Monterey for one-hour flights and then back to Google’s Air Force Base this evening.

If you’re looking to do a little air surfing for New Years, Airship Ventures is offering a very exclusive evening. The night begins with limousine service to the San Francisco Chronicle four-star award winning MICHAEL MINA restaurant where guests will enjoy a magnificent five-course dinner that begins with a special toast of Schramsberg ’99 Reserve in magnum. After, guests will be taken by limousine to Airship Ventures’ Guest Terminal in Oakland. The exclusive New Year’s Eve flight departs at 10:30 pm and will fly over the bay, where pilots will skillfully navigate the massive airship through the middle of the exploding firework spectacular. Priced at $25,000 per dozen people, the priceless night will be just that.
In case you’re unfamiliar, the German-made, helium filled Eureka is the world’s largest airship – one of three zeppelins that fly the planet’s skies. The Zeppelin tops out at 77 mph and can travel 500 nautical miles. It’s more than 50 longer than the Goodyear blimp and has a rigid frame.
