Haute 100 LA Update: Simon Cowell Buys Rare $1 Million Jaguar

Whether he’s celebrating being a new father or just celebrating life, Simon Cowell has bought himself one heck of a gift.

The X-Factor mentor and former American Idol judge has custom-ordered the incredibly rare Eagle Speedster Jaguar after seeing it showcased on the British TV show Top Gear.

He couldn’t resist showing off his new acquisition on Twitter, posting a photograph of himself in the new ride with the caption: “I think this may be the most beautiful car in the world. It’s made by Eagle. Thank you Henry,Paul and the team.”

The car is one of three in the world, and in a former life, was a 1965 Jaguar E-Type before it was brought in to restoration company Eagle, who improved the brakes, suspension as interior; Eagle also rebuilt the engine and gave the car an aluminum body.

The 54-year-old music executive has always had a thing for cars: he traded the Bugatti Veyron he drove only a few times in the three years he owned it for his recent purchase of a Caterham sportscar.

His love of Jaguar is also well documented; he attended the company launch of its F-Type Coupe in Los Angeles back in November.
