Haute 100 LA Update: Johnny Depp to be Honored at Makeup & Hair Awards Show

He’s boldly appeared as everyone from Edward Scissorhands to Captain Jack Sparrow to the Mad Hatter, and now, Johnny Depp is finally being feted for his willingness to transform himself with the magic of stage makeup.

The 50-year-old actor is being honored at this year’s Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Guild Awards at Paramount Studios on Feb. 15.

The Oscar nominee will accept the first-ever “Distinguished Artisan Award” from longtime makeup artist Joel Harlow, who has transformed his visage on projects like The Lone Ranger, Dark Shadows, The Rum Diary and the Pirates of the Caribbean: At Word’s End and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.

Harlow also worked with Depp on two upcoming releases: the sci-fi film Transcendence, and Rob Marshall‘s comedy fantasy, Into the Woods.
