If Celine Dion shows up to sing at your benefit, you know the cause must be important.

The Grammy-winning performer was one of many celebrity guests to attend the UCLA Head & Neck Surgery Luminary Awards in Beverly Hills on Wednesday evening, an event of which raised funds for the Department of Head and Neck Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Honorees at the inaugural event included Luminary Award recipient John Mayer, as well as Dianne and James Bashor and Ann and Jerry Moss.

Wayne Newton hosted the Beverly Wilshire-held gala, which featured a cocktail reception, dinner and show. In addition to the performance by Dion, who received a standing ovation for her “My Heart Will Go On”, Mayer acoustically performed his hits  “Dear Marie” and “Daughters.”

Additional guests at the event included Teri Hatcher, Karina Smirnoff, and Ali Fedotowsky.
