This year marks the 40th anniversary of Diane von Furstenberg’s wrap dress. In celebration, DVF has launched an initiative designed to collect wrap dress stories from women all over the world.  The project invites anyone who has a story to tell about their DVF wrap dress.

Diane created the Wrap Dress in 1974 after designing the wrap top. It was when she saw Julie Nixon Eisenhower wearing her wrap top and wrap skirt together on television, and decided to combine them into a dress. In 1975, over 15,000 wrap dresses were sold in one week and in 1976 over sales totaled at 5 million. Michelle Obama wore it on her first White House Christmas Card and there is even a DVF dress displayed at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC.

The brand has created a dedicated web address, www.dvfwrapstory.com, to gather all wrap stories, which will be shared with Diane.
