Cartier-Style-and-History

Some of the most fashionable and significant people in history have worn Cartier jewelry and watches. To celebrate the brand’s role throughout history, a selection of dazzling jewels will be on display at the Grand Palais in Paris from December 4 to February 16.

Ever since founder Louis-Francois Cartier took over a jewelry store in 1847, he strived to create exceptional pieces of pristine condition, standout beauty and function. In the exhibit, visitors will be able to see the progression of Cartier craftsmanship become more refined with each piece.

Ornate pieces straight from the personal collections of royal families and elite socialites, such as Kate Middleton’s wedding day tiara and 20 pieces from the royal family of Monaco, will be included in the exhibition. Also on display will be various pieces from the personal collection of Marjorie Merriweather Post, who was considered to be Cartier New York’s most frequent customer.

The ornate exhibit, which will be held in the Salon d’Honneur in the Grand Palais, will showcase the evolution of jewelry necessities over time from lipstick cases and cigar cases to Cartier’s first ever wristwatch in the signature “Panthere” diamond and onyx pattern. The event will be one of the most extravagant and extensive exhibitions of Cartier jewelry and will without a doubt continue to inspire generations of Cartier admirers.
