Upcoming (RED) Auction Will Feature $30,000 Custom Christian Louboutin Boots

Get ready to bid for a cause! Sotheby’s upcoming (RED) auction, which benefits the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, will be held in New York City on Nov. 23.

Apple’s Jony Ive and designer Marc Newson spend the last year curating the collection, which includes a slew of luxury items like rose gold earbuds, a Steinway & Sons Parlor Grand Piano, an Hermes saddle and a custom-designed pair of spiked Christian Louboutin boots.

“It’s been a thrilling journey for Jony and me to curate this collection of pieces that celebrate extraordinary design that we love, that transcends all boundaries of time and place,” Newson said in a statement. “These objects we each conceived to resolve a singularly focused challenge, yet have subsequently achieved a cultural significance that’s above and beyond their initial functionality.”

The original (RED) auction, which was held at Sotheby’s in 2008, raised more than $40 million for the fight against AIDS in Africa.
