Bottega Veneta’s Art of Collaboration – Fall/Winter 2013/2014 Advertising Campaign
Entitled The Art of Collaboration, Bottega Veneta’s latest collaboration is shot by acclaimed American photographer Ralph Gibson and features women’s and men’s ready-to-wear collections as well as the brand’s latest in an ongoing series of creative collaboration with Contemporary artists.
The campaign was shot at several unique locations in Milan in February 2013. The Fall-Winter 2013/2014 collection boasts a deep palette filled with
black, grey, blue, plum and pearl white, touches of cool green and muted bronze, as well as vibrant red and yellow. The look is polished and sleek with the women’s silhouette that places emphasis on volume and a men’s silhouette that is exceptionally sharp and tailored.
Gibson is best known for images that exude a combination of tension and elegance. He is recipient to a number of awards including a fellowship from the prestigious John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation in 1985 as well as two honorary doctorates. “I’ve admired Ralph’s minimal yet formal aesthetic for some time, especially the way he looks beyond reproducing reality,” explains Bottega Veneta’s Creative Director Tomas Maier. “His ability to follow his instincts and respond spontaneously creates a new form of expression which is exactly what was required to evoke the emotion we wanted the campaign to relay. I believe we shared the goal of reducing the image in order to capture the complexity of the collection and I am very pleased with the powerful results.” Maier chose Gibson for the Fall-Winter 2013/2014 campaign because of his deep contextualization and surreal juxtaposition that he brings to each photograph.
