Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Wonder’s House Can Be Yours

Musical genius Stevie Wonder, born Steveland Morris, is selling one of his many Los Angeles properties for $3.2 million. Property records show that Wonder purchased the Los Feliz house way back in October of 1979 for just $435,500. According to the realestalker, the 26-time Grammy award winner’s property is a 4,511 square foot, five bedroom and five bath masterpiece (although records filed with the city indicate that the house includes only 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms). The Chislehurst Drive, Art Deco-designed, red-tiled-roofed and white-wash-walled domicile (built in 1928) has 14 rooms, including a pool house in the back. Additional features include a motor court with 3-car garage, a dramatic double staircase located in a rotunda like entrance hall, a large living room with fireplace and magnificent views, a swimming pool with aforementioned adjacent pool house, and a basement that the listing agent, who happens to be one of Stevie’s seven children, indicates could be converted into a “possible theatre room.” Although this house is attributed to the ivory tinkler, it is still unclear whether or not he ever actually lived in it; Stevie has a prodigious real estate portfolio that almost matches his leviathan music catalogue. In fact, the Library of Congress just called to say it loved him, telling their new cherie amour that come February, it will honor the 58-year old with only its second Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. Announced on Tuesday, the prize honors an artist whose work transcends musical styles to bring diverse listeners together and foster mutual understanding. The first Gershwin was awarded to Paul Simon in 2007. Isn’t that lovely?
